I, on the other hand, can confirm from experience that adding memory can make even an older PC really faster (a fast SSD is of course also a necessity). There is a big difference between i3, i5 fourth generation and Windows 10/11 when you have 4, 8 or 12GB RAM!! But it's true that more RAM than 16GB is not very meaningful anymore. At least for such an old generation of processors.
In fact, I put 16GB RAM in my office PCs as default. If someone wants a more expensive gaming PC, 32GB is a must. That's not how much the memory costs. And if there's no money, I'll put 2x16GB and leave at least the slots free.
