Samsung N210 Netbook Review - TechAmok
Samsung N210 Netbook Review - [hardware] 02:49 AM EDT - Apr,09 2010 - post a comment PureOverclock posted a review of the Samsung N210 Netbook, which is very similar to the majority of the current netbooks on the market, based on the Intel Atom N450 processor and offering limited upgrades. While there isn't much in terms of computing power increase on the CPU, the advantage here is that lower power consumption is offered, which results in a longer battery life.
The ergonomics of the N210 are likeably, with a comfortable keyboard and multi-touch track pad. With a very impressive build quality like most of Samsungs devices, the N210 has a lot going for it most noticeably the keyboard and multi touch track pad. The right Shift key is undersized but it's not a deal breaker here.
In terms of performance, the N210 doesn't really bring anything new to the table, and keeps pace with the competitors that offer the same components and specifications. The boot time of the N210 takes a little longer than I like to see personally but that could be attributed to the 5400 RPM hard drive or the 1GB of RAM available. On that note, these are really the only two areas available for upgrade. I would recommended going with more memory to 2GB in total, as this will help the overall “snappiness” of the system, and it's an inexpensive and easy upgrade. A more expensive upgrade is a solid state drive rather than the handcuffed hard drive, and while this will boost performance considerably, it is a tough pill to swallow in terms of price. I suppose there's something to be said about pimping your netbook with an SSD, but that's what enthusiasts might do, not everyday consumers.
The N210 performed very well when browsing the web, streaming music, writing in MS Word, as well as well as checking e-mails at the same time, and the system didn't seem to struggle discernibly during use. The battery life was very good, lasting up to ten and a half hours, more than long enough to last the day for normal use. Lastly, Samsung also includes a 1 year warranty, 24/7 phone support.
