The chaps over at ThinkComputers take a further look at the Samsung 2263DX Black 22inch Widescreen LCD Monitor. Here's a bit:

There's no denying it. The Samsung SyncMaster 2263UW is easily one of the best consumer LCD monitors on the market. The spec sheet is very impressive and while you may be able to find some monitors with better response rates, brightness ratings, and contrast ratios, these improved specs are not really noticeable to the average naked eye. Enthusiasts may notice, but the average consumer will be more than happy with what the SyncMaster 2263UW has to offer.

The added features, like the webcam, USB hub, and stereo speakers are a definite bonus. Audio output from the speakers won't be loud enough for gamers, but they're good enough to replace a basic set of speakers. If you need the thump of 2.1 or 5.1, then you'll need to do that separately. The webcam, at 3.0 megapixels, is great for both pictures and videos. Video calls were an absolute pleasure and it was great that I could get rudimentary functionality without installing the full drivers.

The two areas where I would like to see some improvement are the placement of the extra jacks (let's move them to the side) and the somewhat sketchy vertical viewing angle. The latter isn't a huge deal, because it did take a rather extreme angle before the colors started to look a little off. That aside, Samsung has a solid product here and as such, the SyncMaster 2263UW easily earns the ThinkComputers Recommended Award and a 9 out of 10 score.
