It's been reported by China's Economic Daily Times that Apple is postponing its release of the highly anticipated iPhone 8. Now we've all got to hang on to our old iPhones for at least a few more months!

Earlier reports surfaced that Apple had purchased 70 million OLED screens from Samsung, with the iPhone 8 targeted a September launch. But technical issues arising from the new OLED screens' lamination process, and getting 3D Touch to work on the new screens drove Apple to make this painful decision. However, the iPhone 8 might still be released in time for the frantic Holiday seasons. With so much money at stake, Apple is not expected to shift the launch beyond that. The iPhone 7S and 7S Plus might also make an appearance, possibly as wallet-friendly alternatives that don't involve OLED screens.

Apple has kept pretty mum about what's in store. But rumours are circulating that the iPhone 8 will feature an edge-to edge OLED screen and wireless charging wizardry. Oh, and no physical Home button! This is likely to put a dent in Galaxy S8 sales, since Apple fans will likely base their purchase decision on these (sometimes well-founded) rumours. What might put them off is the rumoured cost of the iPhone 8, estimated to float above USD1000 for the first time!
