  • Hitachi's 1TB HD recorder: 2 hi-def shows at once - Hitachi has released a group of new HDD/DVD recorders, including the first such device that can record and store 1TB of information. That's 128 hours of hi-def TV. The model names are the key. The top of the line, the 1TB model, is the DV-DH1000D. The other models are the DH160D, the DH250D, and the DH500D.  They record in various media, including the Japanese HD format Hi-Vision, and are capable of recording two high-definition programs at the same time. Also of note is the 110 degree CS digital tuner.
  • Portable DVD player: watch a movie, play a game - The AXN-6079 sports two 7" screens, one that can play DVDs and one that can play video games or view static images. The device plugs into your vehicle's cigarette lighter (or a standard household plug) and is designed to hang off the back of your vehicle's front seat headrests. It supports various media formats, including DVD, CD, MP3, and Photo CD. The stereo speakers carry sound to one or both pairs of headphones. A classic arcade gaming joystick is included, as is a TV tuner, in case you can tune in mobile cable. Available now, the AXN-6079 sells for US$229.
  • Pioneer PDP-5000EX 50-inch 1080p plasma display  The PDP-5000EX has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and will capable of displaying the entire range of High Definition sources, including 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Once you're done shooting, you can offload via USB 2.0 for editing. Recording in the MPEG2 format, it uses the same compression engine as Sony's DVD cams. The DCR-SR100 retails for $1000 and will ship on May 21.

As a PMP, the Digimax i6 supports MP3 audio and Xvid MPEG4 video formats which you can view on the 2.5" LCD screen. Storage duties are handled by 45MB of internal storage or via a Secure Digital slot. The camera is powered by a proprietary 860mAh battery.
  • Fujitsu Shows Concept Four-Way Slider Phone - Fujitsu is in Milan for the Triennale di Milano Japanese design expo this week showing off a few early concept gadgets. Among them is a four-way slider cellphone that sports a virtual keypad. In essence, you can slide the keypad panel up, down, left or right and the keypad will appear where appropriate. Four buttons are on the face of the decidedly iPod-looking concept. Since it is but a concept, don't expect to see the cellphone on the market in the near future
  • Three New Colors for the Motorola RAZR V3i -  The dark blue, maroon, and violet V3is are no different inside than previous V3i releases but clearly Motorola is hoping one (if not all three) of these colors will call out to that place deep inside your psyche that feels against all the odds an unusually-colored cellphone is the answer to all your problems,
