German overclocker Der8auer got his hands on a Radeon VII to see how much extra performance he could squeeze out of it, but apparently, there are some major issues in the review drivers and/or firmware for the Radeon VII. Any kind of manual overclock, however minor it may be, seems to drastically reduce performance, yet an auto overclock via Wattman sees some real performance gains.
Temperature doesn't seem to be a factor since the card was running under dry ice. GamersNexus, who talked with Der8auer, had similar issues
with all the overclocking and monitoring software they tried.
