The
Inquirer claimss it has managed to grab AMD's price list for tomorrow's
Socket AM2 launch lineup. Surprisingly, prices for the AM2 Athlon 64 and Athlon
64 X2 lines are $3 to $11 lower than those of current Socket 939 chips, with the
new Athlon 64 3200+ and X2 4600+ being notable exceptions. Those processors will
reportedly cost $16 and $31 more than their Socket 939 counterparts,
respectively. In addition to introducing existing speed grades for the new
socket, The Inq says AMD will add Athlon 64 X2 4000+ and 5000+ models for $319
and $689, as well as an Athlon 64 FX-62 for a whopping $1,219.
