TV RoundUp - Sagem, Sony, Toshiba, Xelox - [gadgets]
11:11 AM EDT - May,09 2006 - post a comment

TrustedReviews reviewed four different TVs from Sagem, Sony, Toshiba and Xelox:
Sagem HD-D45H G4 T DLP TV: Unless you really are fixated on getting a flat TV as your partner for the new high definition world, you write Sagem's new DLP rear projection model off at your peril. After all, where in the flat panel world would you be able to find stunning 45in pictures - not to mention features and connections galore - for under £1200? Exactly...

Sony KDE-W50A12U 50in plasma TV: Overall, although it's not a bad TV by any means, it is nonetheless quite easy to see from the W50A12U why Sony has decided to abandon plasma. Sure, the TV looks great and eats high definition for dinner. But standard definition viewing highlights a few fairly fundamental issues that Sony still hasn't addressed, while the price just isn't low enough to really be competitive.

Toshiba 32WLT66 32in LCD TV:
With the 32WLT66, Toshiba's game of LCD catch-up is definitely over - and it's won. Its connections are unusually flexible, its picture performance is easily as good as anything we've seen from any other LCD manufacturer to date, and when you consider all this, its price tag looks pretty darned reasonable, too.

Loewe Xelos A26 26in LCD TV:
In some ways Loewe's little Xelos A26 is desirable in the extreme. It looks divine, is built to last, and its audio rocks harder than some home cinema systems we've heard. But ultimately its contrast shortfall and lack of traditional Loewe flexibility make its price tag a little hard to swallow
