Samsung unveils a new 19" LCD monitor with 2000:1 contrast ratio (model: SyncMastermagic CX919B). With Samsung exclusive 'Dynamic Contrast' technology, it features 2000:1 contrast ratio, the highest so far in its industry, and 2ms response time.

In other news, Samsung has developed a new 7-inch screen that will make visual connoisseurs very happy. They have unveiled the world's first amorphous silicon single chip TFT LCD panel that produces images in a high resolution 800 x 480 WVGA level. The new screen sports a contrast ratio of 400:1 and a brightness level of 450 nits. It will be publicly displayed for the first time in June at the SID Symposium in San Francisco. 7-inch LCDs are commonly used for DMB, portable media players and car navigation systems. It has been difficult to shrink the profile of those devices because of what is needed under the hood to make the screens work. They take between 4 and 7 drive integrated circuits, and several other components to make the pretty pictures.
