A Chinese company showed what it's calling
the world's first mobile phone to run Windows XP at Computex on Friday. According to the provided press picture, the Windows XP phone is meant to combine a mobile phone, GPS, and a notebook, giving you a 'pocketable mobile internet terminal.' In many ways, you could say that it's almost a MID/UMPC that also happens to function as a phone. Going through the spec sheet, you'll find a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 120GB hard drive, 7 hours of battery life, some sort of AMD processor, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and GPS. However, it also happens to have a 4.8-inch display with a 800×480 resolution, so it's not quite as 'pocketable' as most other phones. Expect it to hit the Chinese market in about three months and later be marketed worldwide.
