Western Digital 2TB Green Drive Tested - [hardware] Digg icon StumbleUpon icon del.icio.us icon Facebook icon

TechwareLabs has published a review of the Western Digital 2TB Green Drive:
For being the first 2TB drive out on the market, Western Digital got a lot of things right. The drive performs very well, even though it is not coined as a 'performance drive.' Where this drive will really shine is in the datacenter storage market. This drive uses only a fraction of the amount of power that other drives do, which will save a significant amount of money in electrical costs. When you consider that some datacenters can easily house more than a 100 drives, the electrical savings can add up fairly quickly.

With the price tag around $250, the drive is expensive, but reasonably priced. This is also somewhat the cost you pay for being on the bleeding edge of tech. Overall this drive performs exceptionally well and is why we would like to award it the 'Awesome Hardware' award.
