XYZ Computing has posted a review on the Vivitar ViviCam 8300s Digital Camera. This tiny point-and-shoot camera is designed to compete with products like Canon's PowerShot (specifically models like the SD600 and SD550) as well as Nikon's CoolPix cameras. With a 2.5" LCD, 8.1 megapixel images, and a reasonable price tag, this model is certainly worth looking into.

All told, Vivitar's ViviCam 8300s is not a bad camera but it is not nearly as good as it could be. Its exterior and LCD are simply not matched by its photographic performance. The end result is a camera which will probably satisfy unwary buyers and bargain hunters, but will not cut it with photography fans or discerning buyers. With some more development of the optics and the internals, Vivitar could be onto something, but those changes would inevitably increase the price greatly, so don't expect them anytime soon.
