This Video Business article reports that
the first HD-DVD players are scheduled to quietly show up in retail stores next
week. Toshiba will be shipping out between 10,000 and 15,000 HD-DVD players
to stores, according to the article, and four titles (Serenity, Million Dollar
Baby, The Last Samurai and The Phantom of the Opera) are expected to go on sale
next week as well, and Netflix and Blockbuster Online are also expected to start
renting HD-DVD movies next week.
On April 25, Universal will release
Apollo 13 and Doom. Amazon.com is currently taking pre-orders on the titles.
