Following several forum posts,
Ubisoft has
officially confirmed that it will no longer use the controversial
digital-rights software from Starforce. "Ubisoft has decided t
o use an
alternative copy protection system to Starforce for upcoming releases," said
a rep for the company. The announcement means that Starforce software will not
be included in Heroes of Might and Magic V, the publisher's much-anticipated
forthcoming PC role-playing game.
Ed.note: It has been confirmed that it won't have Starforce but who knows what else it
will have?
Update: Tiscali Games informed us that Ubisoft will use SecuROM copy protection in Heroes of Might & Magic V, reporting they've learned this from Czech publisher CD Projekt.
