new Catalyst 8.11 drivers for 32-bit/64-bit Windows Vista and Windows XP.
ATi has released new Catalyst 8.11 drivers today for all you Radeon video card
owners. In addition to game specific performance enhancements in FarCry 2 and
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, there are a few new features added to as well. There
are drivers for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Window MCE. Grab them if you need
them.
- Stalker Clear Sky: Performance increases between 6%-18% on single card configured systems when using the ATI Radeon HD 3000 or ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series of products. Performance increases between 10%-30% on CrossFireX configured systems using the ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 or ATI Radeo™ HD 4000 Series of products.
- Far Cry 2: Performance increases between 5%-10% on single card configured systems when using the ATI Radeon HD 3000 or ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series of products. Performance increases between 8%-14% on CrossFireX configured systems using the ATI Radeon HD 3000 or ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series of products.
Users of CrossFire multi-GPU setups should now be able to use the Catalyst Control Center system tray applet to check if their games are using more than one graphics card, too. On top of that, the new drivers include a Windows XP version of AMD's HydraVision display and window management software. This tool lets you divide the Windows desktop into multiple areas for different applications, configure virtual desktops, and set special hotkeys.
