A quick rundown for the interested and confused:
- The responsible registry for EU domains is EURid - http://www.eurid.eu/en/general/
- You cannot buy an EU domain unless you live in a member country of the European Union, or own a company or other organization there.
-  Starting yesterday, the post-sunrise phase is running. During sunrise, only companies, public bodies and other groups who had previous name rights could order an EU domain - now, during the next 40 days, those sunrise applications are ordered, and tested - therefore, even if you register a name now during land rush, it will take up to 40 days before your domain gets approved, and it's possible that it still might be turned down, even though it was listed as free, because a sunrise applicant came before you.
- EU domains can be found starting at 18€ per year.
