Logitech illuminated keyboard the thinnest ever - TechAmok
Logitech illuminated keyboard the thinnest ever - [hardware] 06:32 PM EDT - Sep,02 2008 - post a comment
The
new Logitech Illuminated Keyboard makes typing easy - even in the dark. To
optimize existing backlight technology, Logitech combined microlens reflectors,
a multilayer painting process and laser etching - creating a backlight
experience that is brighter, sharper and easier to read. Whether you're typing
an e-mail or chatting with a friend, the adjustable backlight gives you just the
right amount of light. Logitech uses its PerfectStroke key system with precision
micro-scissors behind each key for improved travel and typing feel. The palm
rest area has soft-touch material covering it and the keys on the keyboard are
full size. One-touch multimedia keys are included for volume, music, and video
as well as one-touch access to applications like email and web browser. The
keyboard measures in at 18.03-inches x 7.56-inches x 0.37-inches (L x W x H) and
weighs 2.2 pounds. It is compatible with Windows Vista or XP and will be
available in September for $79.99. Logitech also announced a new version of its
thin diNovo series keyboards specifically for the notebook. The keyboard is
called the diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks and looks similar to the diNovo Edge.
The wrist rest area has brushed aluminum and the rest of the keyboard is a
glossy black.
Update: TechwareLabs has published
a review of the Logisys Ultra Slim Soft Touch Illuminated Multimedia
Keyboard TechwareLabs has published a review of the Logisys Ultra Slim
Soft Touch Illuminated Multimedia Keyboard Here's a bit:
In testing the Logisys Ultra Slim Soft Touch Illuminated Multimedia Keyboard,
one of the first things I noticed is that Logisys claims the dial in the lower
right hand corner is a "built in a volume dialer for media control." On the
original un-illuminated keyboard this is true. On the newer illuminated
keyboard, the dial is used to control the brightness of the illuminated keys.
Put side by side the keyboards seem to be exactly the same, however, some of the
buttons have changed locations to allow for illumination controls. As previously
mentioned, you have to be the one that likes your keyboard, however I feel that
the layout of this keyboard is perfect. The keys are not too close, nor are they
too far apart from one another. The best way of describing the feel is to
compare it to a laptop keyboard (14.1" or larger). The Illumination control is
nice to have, but I wish it were brighter. Even with the lights off, the light
from my monitor can sometimes drown out the red and a blank white screen can
block the blue keys. Some keys are brighter than others, indicating that there
LED's with some type of plastic dispersing the light. There are also lights on
the side of the keyboard that illuminate portions of your desk. Personally this
is my favorite part, as this keyboard is to be used with my Police Case Mod
(COPuter).
