Those of you having issues with your brand new Radeon HD 4850, have no
fear,
a hotfix is here. The hotfix applies to both the 4850 and the unreleased Radeon HD 4870, and
AMD says it "improves overall performance and stability,"
although the firm doesn't provide any specifics. AMD goes on
to say the hotfix includes graphics driver and Catalyst Control
Center components, so folks presumably won't need to install
this on top of the Catalyst
8.6 drivers that came out a couple of days before. You can grab the hotfix directly from
AMD's Customer Care page for Vista and XP in both x86 and
x64 flavors.
