ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf 7-inch Laptop Tested - [hardware]

ThinkComputers.org posted a review on the ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf 7-inch Laptop:
First off the size, my Dell is a 12.1-inch and while it is small it's not something that I can carry around with me everywhere. The small size of the Eee PC makes it easy to carry around with you anywhere. The startup and shutdown times of the Eee PC are also a big plus, sometimes you only have 20-30 minutes while waiting for a flight or something else and sometimes you just think it's pointless to open your laptop, but when it will open in 30 seconds it's not so pointless. I also like that ASUS has included 3 USB drives, especially since there is not a lot of internal storage, I have seen some laptops that only have 2 USB ports. The other HUGE selling point to the Eee PC is the price, you can find the 2G Surf model online for $299. I'm not sure where you can find a fully functional wireless laptop with all the features and the small size for that price.

While the Eee PC does have a full suite of software it does not have everything that I need in a laptop. I use special watermarking and photo editing software that is not available on Linux and probably would not run that great with only 512MB of memory. I do like the size of the Eee PC for traveling, but the screen size could be a bit bigger, especially for viewing larger websites. I would say the screen size is acceptable, but nothing great. The main reason the Eee PC would not replace my laptop is that it is very hard to have many programs open at once on it. If I have a web browser, word processor, and MP3 player open there really is not much else I can have open because of only 512MB of ram and the processor is not what you would find in a normal laptop. You can buy more memory, but of course that brings the price of the Eee PC up
