Acer's
first crack at a gamer PC is the Predator, an aggressively configured
machine that seems to be themed after the titular monster in the Predator
movies. Inside the
Aspire G7700 Predator's orange and black shell (and behind its odd slide-up
front lid), users will find an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, an Nvidia nForce
780i SLI-based motherboard, 8GB of DDR2-1066 memory, three GeForce 9800 GTX
graphics cards running in SLI mode, and 1TB of hot-swappable Serial ATA storage
with RAID. The Predator's top config also includes a liquid cooling system, TV
tuner, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum sound card, dual Gigabit Ethernet
ports, Blu-ray drive, 1kW power supply, and a copy of either Windows Vista Home
Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate. Acer hasn't yet announced pricing or a launch
date for the machine.
