Nokia today introduced several new entry-level phones targeted at first-time and prepaid users around the world:: the Nokia 2610, 2310 and 1112. All three are candybars, have big keys and speakerphones but no cameras, as they're all geared towards first-time owners in certain markets like China, India, South-East Asia and Africa where penetration levels are still fairly low.

2610: Dual-band GSM phone with a rubberized finish to combat dust and improve grip. Features a 65,000-color display, MP3 and recordable voice ringtones, speakerphone, MMS, voice memo, and large text display. Weighing 91 grams, the Nokia 2610 has a talk time of up to 3 hours and a standby time of up to 12 days. The Nokia 2610 will be available in a range of colors, depending on markets. The estimated retail price, before subsidies or taxes, is expected to be 75 euros.

The Nokia 2310 - Features built-in FM radio tuner, a "speed dial" for SMS sending and the Nokia Prepaid Tracker, "a network supported application which automatically updates users of their prepaid account balance after each call or message". For those with a mind for fashion and music, the Nokia 2310 phone offers a compact design matched with an equally outstanding array of colour covers. A dedicated short-cut key activates the built-in FM radio which features "sound visualization" -graphics that move in sync with the music. Keeping in tune with consumer desires, the Nokia 2310 offers polyphonic and MP3-grade ring tones. For text-intensive consumers, the Nokia 2310 offers a host of messaging options, including an SMS editor to avoid accidental deletions of messages, speed dial for SMS sending and a distribution list for creating and managing personal contact lists. Weighing 85 grams, the Nokia 2310 has a talk time of up to 6 hours and a standby time of up to 16 days. The estimated retail price, before subsidies or taxes, is expected to be 65 euros.

1112: A slight variant of the previously-announced 1110 that trades the reversed amber-on-black monochrome LCD for a normal black-on-white LCD. Weighing 80 grams, the Nokia 1112 has a talk time of up to over 5 hours and a standby time of up to 15 days. The Nokia 1112 is available in a range of colors and is expected to retail for an estimated price of 45 euros, before subsidies or taxes. The model is expected to be commercially available in the second quarter 2006.
