Yes, I've already reported about the upcoming "GeForce 9800 GX2," which is expected to feature two G92 graphics processors - the same ones used in GeForce 8800 GT and GTS 512MB cards-and two 512MB batches of GDDR3 memory. Now the chaps over at Expreview have posted some more information about the card. They say the 9800 GX2's dual G92 graphics processors will run at 600MHz, will have 1500MHz shaders , and will feature a full 128 stream processor each. Each chip's 256-bit memory bus will be hooked up to 512MB of 1000MHz GDDR3 memory, which should add up to an aggregate of 1GB of RAM and 128GB/s of memory bandwidth. For reference, the 8800 GTS 512MB has a 670MHz core speed, 1674MHz shader clock, and 970MHz memory. If these leaked specs are accurate, the GX2 should have close to the same processing power as a pair of 8800 GTS 512MB cards.

According to VR-Zone, Nvidia is planning to launch the GeForce 9800 GX2 some time in the middle of next month. Interestingly, the Singapore-based website also claims Nvidia will follow up with a "GeForce 9800 GTX" graphics card two weeks after the GX2's launch. The 9800 GTX apparently won't be a next-generation part-rather, it's expected to feature a G92 graphics processor clocked between 750MHz and 850MHz. The clock speed advantage should allow it to outdo G92-based GeForce 8-series offerings, but if VR-Zone has its facts straight, the move will be more commercial than architectural.
