News.com reports that the world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart, has decided to
stop selling HD-DVD players and movies and sell only the rival Blu-Ray products.
The retailer will make the move to go Blu-Ray exclusive by June. This new move
adds to the pile on the HD-DVD defections this week following news that Netflix
will abandon renting HD-DVD movies and Best Buy will "recommend" Blu-Ray over
HD-DVD in its stores. There are rumors that Toshiba might soon be declaring
defeat:
The Hollywood Reporter has sources telling it that Toshiba, the main
backer of HD DVD, might drop its allegiance with the format in the next few
weeks. Toshiba denies it, but stay tuned.
