The rumor site Fudzilla claims that all G80 cards - that means the GeForce 8800 Ultra, GeForce 8800 GTX, GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, and GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB - will hit end of life status in January, yielding their place to newer, G92-based derivatives. G92 replacements already include the GeForce 8800 GT and GeForce 8800 GT 256MB, and if recent rumors are accurate, they'll be joined by a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB tomorrow. The 8800 GTS 512MB is expected to be priced at just $299-349 - a far cry from the $600+ GeForce 8800 Ultra - so Nvidia may be left without premium top-of-the-line cards upon the G80 series' discontinuation. Of course, Nvidia has more products up its sleeve. The rumor mill has already produced information about an upcoming dual-GPU, G92-based product as well as a next-gen GeForce 9 graphics card, which are both said to be scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
