Notebook makers in Taiwan predict that AMD's first batch of dual-core Turion
64 mobile processors, which will reportedly be released on May 9,
may start a price war in the dual-core notebook market sooner than expected.
AMD is expected to offer better prices for its Turion 64 X2 CPU line than
comparable offerings from Intel, indicated the makers. AMD will release its new
Turion X2 64 processors, with the entry-level segment starting at 1.6GHz and the
flagship topping out at 2.2GHz with 2MB of L2 cache, on May 9. Intel will
reportedly implement price cuts of 13-50% for its dual-core processors in April
with more price adjustments in the third quarter of this year. Oh yeah!
Let the price war begin ...:) I plan to buy a new notebook later this year
