The
Inquirer reports that there's lightly simmering discontent in the EVGA
bulletin boards over a bug in the EVGA 680i chipset. Users have been moaning for
months that raid add in cards from P29 to P31 do not work with the beast. Some
say that when on board Nvidia RAID is enabled the Adaptec BIOS won't initialise.
However if there is Nvidia RAID then Adaptec works fine. Generally however the
belief is that the EVGA 680i chipset will not recognise any add-on raid
cards although the previous Bios worked fine.
Reflashing so that they use the P28 works a treat, but it means that users
cannot use 1333 Mhz support and other goodies. This means that reflashing is not
an option for those who use 1333 FSB CPUs. Posts (
#1,
#2) about
the problem have been lurking around the EVGA boards here and here for since May
last year but no one from the company has posted and there has been no patch
offered.
