The
minimum specs for upcoming massive-scale shooter
ET: Quake Wars have
been revealed - and there's good news for those not quite sporting enough
hardware to make Crysis a realistic option for the next six months. Splash
Damage has managed to keep the hardware requirements to a minimum, despite the
upgrades to the Doom 3 engine, which include John Carmack's famed megatexturing
algorithms. The demo, released on Monday, requires a mere GeForce FX 5700-class
card, with the ATI-heydey card Radeon 9700 the minimum from the red team.
On the processor side, a Pentium 4 2.8GHz, or Athlon XP 2800+ is the name of the
day - although up those figures by another 200MHz if you're running on Windows
Vista. Vista owners lose out again when it comes to RAM requirements - 512MB for
XP, 768MB for Vista. So much for Vista being the ultimate gaming platform.
