Some users over at the
2CPU
forums have discovered an unexplained issue with Windows Vista that degrades
network performance during audio playback. Network throughput appears to be
locked between 5% and 10% of line capacity when audio files are being played or
even when they're paused. The problem apparently afflicts video playback, as
well, and no amount of fiddling with priorities and auto-tuning options seems to
rejuvenate network performance.
