According
to DigiTimes, Intel is readying five dual core and four quad core 45nm
processors for a total of nine new desktop processors. Those chips will include
three quad-core 'Yorkfield' models clocked at 2.5GHz, 2.66GHz, and 2.83GHz, as
well as four dual-core 'Wolfdale' offerings running at 2.66GHz, 2.83GHz, 3GHz,
and 3.16GHz. Intel's 45nm lineup will also include one extra Yorkfield chip and
one extra Wolfdale chip, both with yet-unknown clock speeds. The five Wolfdale
models will reportedly pack 6MB of L2 cache, while three of the quad-core
Yorkfield CPUs will have 12MB. Only the 2.5GHz Yorkfield will break the trend by
sporting 6MB of cache - presumably 3MB per dual-core die.
