Microsoft has issued a couple of updates (which
leaked onto the
internet last week) for Windows Vista that address
performance and
compatibility problems with the new operating system. The performance update
addresses poor memory management performance, AVI corruption, and slow estimates
when copying large files, among other issues. With the compatibility update,
Microsoft has apparently fixed "visual appearance issues" in games, poor
playback quality with HD DVD and Blu-ray movies, and a tendency for GeForce
8-series graphics drivers to stop responding. Please report your experience with
this update, good or bad, in the
forums.
