The
50" TH-50PX60U and the 42" TH-42PX60U are about to hit the market in the
United States. The new Panasonic Plasma HDTVs feature NTSC and ATSC/QAM (SDTV
and HDTV broadcasts) tuners and the obligatory SD Card slot. The resolution is
still not full HDTV, but the pricing of the new G9 Panasonic Plasma TVs is also
fairly affordable. The 50" TH-50PX60U has an MSRP of $3,499.95 and the 42"
TH-42PX60U has a list price of $2,499.95.

CNET News reports that Applied Nanotech and manufacturer Da Ling agreed to a
trial production of
Carbon Nanotube TVs. Carbon Nanotube TVs work like CRTs but are as slim as
LCD TVs. Applied Nanotech showed a 25 inch Carbon Nanotube TV prototype last
September (photo). The image quality is still pretty bad, but maybe it is just a
matter of money to make it work right. The first nanotube TVs could be ready by
2008.
