According to
VR-Zone, Nvidia plans to introduce an entry-level GeForce 8400 GS graphics
card. The card is supposedly set to hit stores on June 19, a launch schedule
VR-Zone says matches that of one of AMD's low-end Radeon HD 2900 XT derivatives
dubbed the Radeon HD 2400 Pro. GeForce 8400 GS cards will reportedly be priced
at $45 and feature a 450MHz core clock, a 400MHz memory memory clock, 16 stream
processors, and a 64-bit memory interface. For reference, Nvidia's current
cheapest GeForce 8-the 8500 GT-sells just under the $100 mark and features
450MHz/400MHz core/memory clocks, 16 stream processors, and a 128-bit memory
interface. According to VR-Zone, AMD's Radeon HD 2400 Pro will also be priced at
$45, but the GeForce 8400 GS will have the upper hand in terms of performance.
