The
U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation today that would give
anyone up to five years in jail for using spyware to commit fraud. "It targets
the worst forms of spyware without unduly burdening technological innovation,"
said Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, chief sponsor of the bill which
passed on a voice vote. Personally, I was hoping for the death penalty for
spammers but I guess jail time for spyware isn't bad :-)
