The chaps at
The Inquirer have posted some details about Intel's upcoming 4P server
processor, code-named Tigerton. The processor - to be dubbed Xeon X7350 -
will have four cores, a 2.93GHz clock speed, 8MB of cache, a 1066MHz front-side
bus, and a 130W power rating-in other words, the same specifications as the
recently launched Core 2 Extreme QX6800. For reference, the speediest Clovertown
processor currently on the market is the Xeon X5355, which runs at 2.66GHz with
8MB of cache, a 1333MHz front-side bus, and a 130W power envelope. The Inquirer
also reports that other Tigerton processors will include 2.4GHz/8MB,
2.13GHz/4MB, and 1.6GHz/4MB models with 80W power envelopes, and a 1.86GHz
chip with a 50W power envelope. There are also two dual-core parts, both 80W
parts, the E7220 and the E7210, but The Inquirer doesn't mention their clock
speeds.
