Google has rolled out a new Gemini-powered feature in Google Docs that generates AI audio summaries, allowing users to listen to a concise verbal overview of their documents-including content from multiple tabs-without reading everything. These summaries, typically a few minutes long and delivered in a natural speaking style, can be accessed via Tools > Audio > Listen to document summary on the web, with options to customize voices (such as narrator or coach) and adjust playback speed.

The rollout began on February 12, 2026, and is expected to reach all eligible users over the next 15 days. Access is limited to subscribers of specific plans, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise editions, and certain Google AI Pro/Ultra add-ons for business or education.
