Huawei on Wednesday has launched a self-developed AI solid-state drive (SSD) in Shanghai to handle the massive growth of artificial intelligence data in China, where daily token usage has jumped to 30 trillion a day, more than 300 times higher than 18 months ago. Together with Huawei's new UCM software, which boosted AI speed by 22 times by linking small fast GPU memory with big slow SSDs, it now adds the hardware power to handle massive data like a 671B-parameter model needing 13.4TB memory. The company has also teamed up with 11 partners to form an AI SSD Innovation Alliance to push research, new applications and industry standards.
