Microsoft has officially
announced Xbox Series S, dubbed "next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever." It will cost $299 /
£249.99.
The official announcement comes following
leaks by
Thurrott of the lower-end next-generation Xbox's design and price. While not part of the initial leak, a followup report by
Windows Central claimed that both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X will launch on November 10 for $499 and $299, respectively. Microsoft has yet to officially confirm a release date outside of November, or an Xbox Series X price point.
The low-end next-generation Xbox boasts the following features:
- Nearly 60 percent smaller than Xbox Series X
- All-digital
- 1440p resolution at up to 120 frames per second
- DirectX ray tracing
- Variable rate shading
- Variable refresh rate
- Ultra-low latency
- Custom 512 GB NVME SSD powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture
- 4K streaming media playback
- 4K upscaling for games
