According
to DailyTech, Nvidia plans to rename its GeForce 6100 and nForce 405 low-end
integrated graphics chipset combo. The site says the single-chip chipset, which
is
code-named MCP61P, will be re-introduced as the GeForce 7050 and nForce
630a combo. This move is supposedly an effort by Nvidia to prepare for
competition from a yet-unannounced AMD RS690 chipset, which will also target the
low-end integrated graphics market. DailyTech suggests the renamed chipset might
be able to do a few more tricks than the current GeForce 6100/nForce 405,
though. The GeForce 7050/nForce 630a will reportedly have support for DVI and
HDMI output, a full-bandwidth PCI Express x16 slot, four 300MB/s Serial ATA
ports with RAID and Gigabit Ethernet. By contrast, the GeForce 6100/nForce 405
only offers VGA output, ten lanes of PCIe connectivity, and two Serial ATA
ports.
