Paul Thurrott and co. have learned Microsoft may be returning to the webcam market next year with
4K cameras, one of which would be compatible with both Windows 10 and Xbox One. This product is supposed to provide unique benefits to both platforms: it would grant Windows Hello-based authentication for the former, which is currently limited to camera systems built into Surface PCs, while Kinect-like features and capabilities (e.g., signing in by way of visual recognition) could be resuscitated for the latter.
