ET News, one of the more reliable Korean outlets responsible for outing Samsung's future plans numerous times prior, has now penned a report suggesting the company will do away with the old-school 3.5mm headphone jack with the release of the Galaxy Note10 next year or, at the latest, with the Galaxy S11 in 2020. The wireless earphones market has grown significantly in recent years, and this may be part of why Samsung is apparently willing to ditch the antiquated port, which has been with us since the 1950s. ​The smartphone manufacturer will likely also adopt the dongle life going forth, as the report suggests a headphone jack to USB-C adapter will be included in the box with future devices. That means the Galaxy S10 may be the last flagship from the South Korean giant to feature a headphone jack. With two of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world dropping support for it, it seems the days of the headphone jack are numbered, indeed.
