doesn't want iPhones and iPads to be used by developers to mine Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The company recently updated its App Store guidelines with specific bans on mining. "Apps may not mine for cryptocurrencies unless the processing is performed off device" such as in the cloud, said Apple. Some apps have hidden cryptocurrency mining in their background processes, using mobile and other devices to mine the currencies unbeknownst to device owners. This is now forbidden. Apple is still allowing apps to facilitate transactions or transmissions of cryptocurrency on an approved exchange, as well as facilitate Initial Coin Offerings as long as they come from established banks. Google has put a similar cryptocurrency mining ban in place in its Chrome Web Store.
