Shoppers will enjoy reduced prices on AMD processors this month, according to
a report by
The Inquirer. The report says AMD will apply "instant rebates" to a number
of its chips for a limited time throughout December, likely in an effort to draw
in sales from the Christmas shopping spree.
The Inquirer reports AMD will apply the
aforementioned cuts to the Sempron chips today and to the Athlon 64 X2 chips on
December 8. AMD has also been selling some Opterons at slightly reduced prices
since October, but those chips are older Socket 939 models. All prices will go
back to normal on December 31.
