Verizon
Wireless announced that it will start to sell a new LG Electronics
smartphone, the latest handset with computer-like functions to join an
increasingly crowded U.S. market. Like the V before,
the enV uses Verizon's standard interface, not a smartphone operating
system, in a feature-packed phone with a QWERTY keyboard. The enV has a small
screen and full numeric keypad outside, and a large landscape screen with a full
QWERTY keyboard when open. The enV features EV-DO high speed data, stereo
Bluetooth, an autofocus 2 Megapixel camera, stereo speakers and a MicroSD slot.
It also features text to speech for reading messages aloud. The enV is available
for $200 with a two year contract. Verizon is currently offering an additional
$50 online discount.
