D-Link have begun shipping routers and adapters that ride on 802.11n wireless protocol. These devices promise high speeds, often sought by network administrators. The D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) and its accompanying Xtreme N desktop adapters like DWA-552 and notebook adapters (DWA-652) can run networks at high speeds and can avoid hand-wiring. With excellent QoS, good video streaming support, clear VOIP calling, high speed network gaming, and many more features that high speed network connectivity can provide are available with these devices. Other key features include a 3x3 antenna configuration, Optional 3x3 external antenna available for optimum placement or installation, Quick Adapter Setup Wizard for easy installation, support for Wireless Multimedia and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) for easy remote access and compatibility with 802.11g and 802.11b standards. Security feature include WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption and Dual Active Firewall protection (SPI, NAT) for enhanced wireless security. The pricing seems to be set to $200 for the DIR-655 router, $120 for the DWA-652 notebook adapter, $142 for the DWA-552 desktop adapter, $150 for the RangeBooster N USB Adapter.
