Sony Ericsson and Fossil have announced
a new line of watches that will be able to tell users who is calling without
touching a mobile phone. The bluetooth-powered MBW-100 watch will vibrate when a
user has a phone call -- A click of a button will transfer the call directly to
voicemail. Even though users will not be able to answer with the watch, it is
fully compatible with Bluetooth headsets.
Users also have access to one-touch muting (to quickly quiet those ring tones
that are less "well-accepted" than stylish 'glanceable' watch display, like
"Disco Duck"). And you have an easy way to reject incoming calls. Other features
include a vibrating alert for incoming calls or text messages, as well as an
out-of-range warning, alerting the wearer if his or her watch can no longer
receive a signal from the phone. (The radius is about 33 feet, or 10 meters, for
you Canadians). There's also a phone time/date view, and a rechargeable battery
- hopefully not provided by Sony :-D The new Bluetooth watch will be available
in two different brands, Fossil and Abacus. The Fossil Caller ID, with black
ionic-plated stainless steel case and bracelet-style strap, will be available
inOctober exclusively in the United States at www.fossil.com, priced at $250.
