MSI & BFG 7900GTX Video Cards Review - [hardware] 07:49 AM EDT - Aug,08 2006 - post a comment Driver
Heaven posted a review on two 7900GTX video cards from MSI and BFG:
MSI's 7900 GTX 512mb performs well in almost every test we could throw at it. If being bought to output to displays up to 1600x1200 the card can handle anything run with 4xAA and 16xAF. The bundled extras provided by MSI are also good with all the cables needed and a free game to play when the card is installed. The one area where we can find minor fault in the card is that our sample provided quite disappointing over clocking potential. This is something which obviously varies from card to card.
BFG have provided us with a very impressive take on Nvidia's 7900 GTX 512mb. The bundle provided is one of the best available and should appeal to enthusiasts, and despite the extras, costs have been kept comparable to other manufacturers. The card itself is the most impressive aspect of the package though as the enhanced clocks allow it to surpass competiting cards which exactly follow reference specifications. There is always some risk in releasing a pre overclocked card, however throughout our testing the card performed flawlessly and as the over clocking tests show there is still a fair bit of headroom for tweaking the clocks further.
MSI's 7900GTX 512mb is as good a reference design GTX as anyone is likely to find. The card performs well and free games are always welcomed. BFG however have gone that extra mile and as well as the equally good but different bundle the enhanced clocks help it outperform standard 7900GTX's in all areas.
