VR-Zone forum member Coolaler strikes back!
He
has managed to crank up Intel's Core 2 Extreme X6800 to a blistering 5.2GHz-2.27GHz
above the chip's stock speed. This feat was aided by modified Intel 975X
motherboard, an 850W power supply, and a generous supply of liquid nitrogen. At
5.2GHz, Coolaler's system completed a SuperPi 2M run in 23.391 seconds. With a
pair of overclocked GeForce 7900 GTX graphics cards running in SLI, a run of the
venerable 3DMark2001 yielded 82,493 3DMarks. Impressive as that score may be,
Coolaler says his little experiment ate up 17 liters of liquid nitrogen!! Yay ;)
Simply amazing, it's good to see these core's have that kind of potential locked in them!!
