Techdomain has a new review of the Intel 925X Express Chipset. All chipsets and motherboards in the 900 series use PCI-Express technology. There are two distinct chipsets so far in this range, the mainstream 915 Express chipset and the performance/enthusiast aimed 925X chipset:

After putting the Intel 925X chipset through a variety of real world and synthetic benchmarks, it can be seen that it performs very well, although maybe not the best performer in all areas. This 925X chipset is Intel's performance leading chipset and it shows definite improvement over previous chipsets, including the 915X chipset. Coupling this 925X chipset with the Tier One motherboard manufacturers', will see the best brought out of this chipset, with their additional tweaks and features, performance will inevitably improve. Undoubtedly the greatest part of this chipset is the array of new and improved features that it boasts, from DDR2 to PCI Express to PCI Express X16, to improved hardware monitoring and many more. This chipset is definitely a great step forward by Intel, and also a very bold one, with all the new technologies included. Provided motherboard manufacturers' don't leave out any of the new features that this chipset flaunts, then I see this chipset becoming quite popular.

Pros:

- Gigabit LAN.
- Support for 800MHz FSB.

Cons:
- Initial Cost of Upgrade is high because of new memory, CPU and graphics card purchases.
- Performance still lagging at little behind leading Athlon 64 boards.
