Intel prepping two new Xeon lineups - [hardware] 07:48 AM EDT - Jul,17 2006 - post a comment The
Chinese website HKEPC has a few slides posted today that is showing
information on upcoming Xeon 3000-series processors. According to HKEPC, Xeon
3000 processors will pop into LGA775 sockets on boards with new Intel 3000/3010
chipsets, which are code-named Mukilteo 2/P. These chipsets will also be
compatible with Pentium Extreme Edition, Pentium D, Pentium 4, and Celeron
processors, but not the Core 2 Duo, HKEPC's previous documents state. Despite
this incompatibility, Xeon 3040-3070 chips appear to sport identical
specifications and near-identical pricing to Core 2 Duo E6300-E6700 processors.
There are four Intel Xeon 3000 model planned as following: Xeon 3040
(1.86GHz/2MB L2/1066MHz FSB), 3050 (2.13GHz/2MB L2/1066MHz FSB), 3060
(2.4GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) and 3070 (2.67GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB), priced at
US$188, US$224, US $316, and US $530 respectively, share the similar price with
Core 2 Duo.
