GoSmart Mobile today announced the Coolpad Flo, an inexpensive Android smartphone that is available without signing an annual contract. The Coolpad Flo's features will probably fail to impress, but it is, at least, on par with other low-end smartphones in its range. It is powered by an unnamed 1 GHz dual-core processor with an unknown amount of RAM, though we wouldn't be shocked if it was a low 512 MB. Internal storage is capped at 4 GB but can be expanded with a microSD card. It has a 4.5-inch display, though don't expect too much quality, as the resolution is a rather low 854×480 pixels. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which is a rather old version by now. Given the specs, though, it seems like a good test case for Android 4.4 compatibility with low-powered devices. It sports a 5 megapixel camera on the rear and a 0.3 one in front for video calls. But given that the device only supports 3G networks and a rather limited subscription option, that might not happen often. One good thing about the Coolpad Flo is its price point. the smartphone will be heading for T-Mobile's shelves under the carrier's GoSmart prepaid plans for $99, plus taxes and fees. However, given the relatively unknown brand and potentially more interesting options in the same price range, it wouldn't be surprising if customers skip over this one.
